New Office Window In
Jul 25th, 2009 by stone
I have never put in replacement windows so I only order just one window to test this process out. I went with the one that would be the most difficult to replace because I am going from a slide window to a double hung window. Today we put it in. It took about two hours to get the window in and that is because the window was a bit short and I had to build out the frame to fit the window better. We also took our time to make sure every thing lined up perfect and then I added insulation all the way around the the window frame to make it as energy efficient as I could. Once in place, caulked around the window to keep the water out and now I have to order more trim so I can trim in the window.
The window was cake. I will order the other slider replacement in a slightly larger size so that it fits better and then I will add one of the double hung replacements and see if that fits perfectly before I order the others. I have 8 more windows and one sliding door to go. Once I get these windows it won’t take too long to get them all installed and much more pleasant this winter with modern energy efficient windows.
The windows are of high enough energy savings level that they qualify for the Obama tax credit so with the windows and the extra insulation that we are going to put in the attic we should be able to get all of the tax credits the President has put out there for us. So thank you Mr. President, I needed to do these updates anyway and you are helping me pay for them!

Glad to hear that it went well. It looks great.
Good job ,you two!!!!
ya know, I have some windows that need replacing as well… any volunteers? no? oh well.
